Years after being abandoned at an orphanage by her father, Gabrielle Chanel finds a job in a tailor shop where she meets, and soon begins an affair with French millionaire Etienne Balsan. Through Baron Balsan she is introduced into French society and given the opportunity to design her own style of hats. Though her career takes off, her personal life becomes more complicated when she falls in love with Balsan's former best friend Arthur Capel.

Watch Coco Chanel instead submitted by SarahRose on April 27, 2010, 11:04am I was excited to see this movie, as I have an interest in fashion and usually like Audrey Tautou, however I was disappointed. My advice for those interested in a biopic of Coco Chanel is to pick up Coco Chanel starring Shirley MacLaine and Malcolm McDowell. MacLaine's Coco has oodles more passion and strength than Tautou's Coco and the movie gives a more complete arc of Chanel's life than this one does.
