Throwback Rock and Roll submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:28am This album has a great classic rock feel to it, provided by a vocal style reminiscent of Robert Plant and heavy guitar riffs that set the tone for each track, yet the band adds their own stylistic flair that becomes increasingly apparent as the album goes on. Wolfmother draws on the past but still sounds modern, delivering punchy, musically accomplished music that falls along the spectrum between alternative rock and metal. It’s a good fit for their talents and they execute it consistently well here.

It's as if Robert Plant, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, and John Lennon decided to record an album, then Jack White showed up halfway through. It features Zepplin-esque vocals but with much heavier rhythm guitar throughout, and edgier lead guitar at times. It is true that at times you wonder if you're listening to another Zepplin album, but at others you wonder if the song is a lost Beatles track, and at no point do you feel like this band is a clone of any of those influences. As much as these comparisons jump out at you, the band definitely has its own style.
