Obviously Influential submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2021, 4:19pm This album offers early New Wave songs that straddle the line between rock and pop and feel like they are an important pivot between the music of the late 1970s and the early to mid-1980s. The band’s influence on the decade’s most popular acts is obvious in retrospect, yet the songs stand strongly on their own merits. New Wave isn’t my favorite style of music, as I often find it unnecessarily grim and a bit cynical, but I enjoyed this album well enough.
