True to the Book submitted by teri on June 28, 2018, 12:41pm If you love Louise Penny, watch this film! It follows the original story very closely (Still Life).
When I saw that Nathaniel Parker played Inspector Gamache, I was initially disappointed. Perhaps because I expected to see Gamache portrayed as a slightly whiny Inspector Lynley (a series where Parker plays another inspector).
Not so! Parker does a great job - as do all the characters. Although I was surprised to see a rather glamorous Clara Morrow (played by Kate Hewlett, who also does an excellent job).

And, if you're a Penny fan, do watch the special feature, "Behind the Scenes", with many appearances by Penny herself. I do wish they would continue making films from her books.

Disappointed submitted by camelsamba on June 11, 2022, 10:24pm On the positive side, the video is a good adaptation of the book. It is true to the plot. The residents of Three Pines - those core characters - are nicer to one another than in the book, which I appreciated. However, the presentation overall fell flat for me. Some of the actors seemed to over do it (looking at you, Mike McPhaden/Ben Hadley). But I suspect the real problem is that I have listened to this series as audiobooks, so I already have voices and accents and mannerisms that I associate with the various characters - and this cast does not live up to my expectations.

Still Life - a Three Pines Mystery submitted by yufamily on July 26, 2022, 9:00pm Nathaniel Parker is great and does an excellent job.
