Holes, not the book submitted by manz on June 29, 2011, 3:14pm I reacently watched this movie again, and I enjoyed it. Sure, the book is better. The books is pretty much a magical experience, as the story unfolds. But here the movie is plenty entertaining. I can't imagine it done another way, and the music and actors help. John Voight as Mr. Sir! It's for sure a "little boy adventure story."

Holes submitted by honordenver on July 2, 2011, 3:22pm Not that good of a movie, but I guess no movie is good when you've seen it 100 times.

Predictable Plot submitted by andreahubert on June 26, 2012, 7:28am This movie plot is fairly predictable. Worth watching once or twice if you are a fan of the book.

I really enjoy this movie. submitted by jennifer-ricks on August 31, 2012, 2:42pm I really enjoy the movie Holes. It follows the book quite well. Highly suggest reading the book if you haven't though.

meh.. submitted by bookworm12345 on July 28, 2013, 2:47pm mehh.... its an ok movie. Not as good as the book, of course. The movie is the *EXACT* same thing as the book. Even the dialouge is the same.

Holes submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 16, 2013, 8:58pm I truly enjoyed this show about broken promises and redemption, even after generations. The story focuses on two kids sent to a prison camp meant to straighten out young criminals, although one was actually innocent. We learn over time that young Stanley's family's bad luck is due to his ancestor's broken promise to a magician. The movie actually tells three stories: that of Stanley and his friend at the camp, that of their ancestors many generations ago, and that of a 19th century interracial couple kept apart by bigotry. Eventually all the story lines combine and good and ill (symbolized by the motifs of onions and peaches throughout the movie) balance.
I highly recommend this movie, which tells of justice and good deeds repaid, for people of all ages.

Holes submitted by kzheng on June 17, 2015, 6:54pm Based off the best book ever

Good Movie submitted by Katharina Geschner on July 12, 2015, 2:25pm I love the book holes! I was really excited to watch the movie that is based on the book holes. It is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who goes to camp green lake. Want to know more than watch Holes. It is a great movie!

Holes submitted by Varshini on August 3, 2019, 5:44pm I watched this movie after reading the book, which was fantastic. I think the movie version of Holes definitely could've been better. It wasn't bad in my opinion, I just think the book did better justice to the story. Okay movie.

Great movie submitted by Annabeth4 on August 18, 2019, 3:55pm I quite enjoyed this movie!

not as good as the book submitted by sophiaszh on August 23, 2020, 4:40pm the book was a lot better than the movie

Faithful adaptation submitted by A2AE on July 19, 2021, 7:47pm This is a fun follow-up after reading the film, especially seeing all of the holes in the barren Texas landscape and "God's thumb," a destination described many times in the book. There are tons of big movie stars in the film, too. The movie adaptation is very faithful to the book as the author himself wrote the screenplay.
