Good submitted by nfrassrand on June 24, 2011, 10:52am Not a good movie for kids, because they'd find this movie boring. I liked it and recommend it to all adults who love cooking.

dumb submitted by harajuku528 on June 29, 2011, 3:32pm stupid

Butter submitted by schoenbaechlere on June 29, 2011, 6:57pm The Julia Child storyline is good. The Julie Powell storyline is lame. Overall, it's just OK.

Good submitted by Pareenaz9 on July 3, 2011, 10:47pm Pretty good movie

Good submitted by Chris82 on July 31, 2011, 8:40pm This movie was a bit odd but really fun.

Not as good as the book submitted by fizzleskittle on June 16, 2012, 5:34pm I really wanted to love this movie, as I'd read the book some months prior and loved it. The movie took some big liberties in its adaptation. The movie spent a lot of time on Julia Child rather than focusing on the story of reinventing oneself through the challenges of cooking. That said, it is still worth watching, just know that you should read the book too!

good submitted by 04foremanh on July 9, 2012, 5:58pm entertaining

Not What I Expected submitted by andreahubert on July 14, 2012, 6:35pm I had a hard time getting into this movie especially since I really like most of the actors involved. It's a good movie, but I don't think I'll be watching it over and over again.

Half Good submitted by ima_rom on July 15, 2012, 4:57am The Julia Child portion of the movie was great.

slow submitted by ftan on July 16, 2012, 9:17pm if you don't mind a slow, rainy day movie then this movie is perfect. meryl streep plays acclaimed french chef Julia Childs while "mary poppins" plays a struggling chef in NY, Julie.

Watch with snacks. submitted by monipate on July 30, 2012, 8:47pm The Meryl/Julia scenes are amazing...worth watching the movie for. Busy yourself with snacks during the Julie parts.

So So submitted by smgop on July 17, 2013, 8:05pm I agree with "butter" - the Julia part was done well by Meryl Streep, the Julie storyline was trite.

Enjoyable submitted by Zekicmom on August 29, 2015, 5:20pm I didn't read the book this movie is based on so I don't have that to compare it to. I enjoyed it. I'm not sure exactly what it was about it that I liked, but I did find myself engaged and smiling a lot.

Interesting Juxtaposition submitted by Meginator on July 3, 2017, 11:33pm I agree with many of the other reviewers that this film is, in many ways, a tale of two films: one about Julia Child and the other about Julie Powell, a woman inspired by her. Meryl Streep is predictably excellent in portraying Child, and Amy Adams does good work as Julie Powell, but the movie struggles a bit in attempting to juxtapose their stories. The movie effectively pulls at the heartstrings in the ways you expect it to and is satisfying but isn't necessarily as deep as it could have been; Julie's storyline is somewhat predictable even if you haven't read the book. "Julie & Julia" is, however, still a fun diversion for a couple of hours, especially if you enjoy cooking.

Great submitted by yenkong on July 9, 2017, 12:08pm Cute movie. We love it.

Good Acting submitted by krogers on July 20, 2018, 7:30am It doesn't always work out this way, but here, this movie is worth watching even for the acting alone, especially by Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.

Very Good but... submitted by timdufresne on August 1, 2018, 3:07pm Julia and Paul Child really need a movie unto themselves! Art and spying and cooking and Paris throughout WWII and the Cold War! What a story! Worth two hours of it's own!

Good submitted by anacoluthon on August 21, 2018, 3:04am I love Meryl Steep and Stanley Tucci, and they had great on-screen chemistry!

I love it submitted by LeonMay on December 17, 2018, 5:29am "Julie & Julia was pure entertainment. The title of this film should be amended to Julie, Julia, & Nora. Nora Ephron's script and direction, along with the performances of Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, add up to one joyous picture. "
I love this film very much. Sometimes I watch it to have some good emotions.

Okay submitted by moola on June 26, 2019, 9:06pm Acting was too close to real

Julia & Julia submitted by Clown81 on July 26, 2019, 9:19pm A good movie if you are inspired to becoming a chef in French cuisine.

appetizing movie submitted by yufamily on August 25, 2019, 9:13pm Good chemistry with Meryl and Amy Adams

Julie & Julia submitted by crp on August 29, 2019, 2:33pm I really enjoyed this movie; You feel like cooking afterwards (and writing a blog!). Amy Adams and Meryl Streep have a great chemistry and this makes the movie worth watching (esp their comedic humorous interpretations of their characters). If nothing else, this movie is worth watching for the onion chopping scene!

Somewhat funny submitted by gem on August 31, 2019, 6:48pm I watched this and enjoyed it.

Julie and Julia submitted by SBNB on June 12, 2020, 8:47pm I liked it, but I thought it would be better than it was.

in love submitted by ccrose on August 11, 2020, 11:29pm I agree that the acting of Streep and Tucci add the depth the movie needed but it would be super to just spend more time with them. A couple without children, living in exciting times, can cultivate a shared life well.

Beautiful movie submitted by Harlowamy on August 30, 2020, 9:14pm Fun, well acted, lovely story.

Interesting submitted by maywang on June 27, 2021, 8:44am Not the best, but viewable. Wouldn’t recommend this over some other movies.

Julie & Julia submitted by maggotnico on August 14, 2022, 8:56am Good movie I enjoyed it
