Title from web page.
Originally released as a motion picture in 2016.
Special features: Deleted scenes; Veterans Day greeting with Mel Gibson.
Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving.
It's the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he singlehandedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers.
DVD, widescreen; 5.1 Dolby digital.

INSPIRING-great movie!! submitted by LVDS on June 17, 2017, 4:14pm It's a war movie, so there is LOTS of violence. But this is one of the most inspiring stories (& it's TRUE)
of a man staying faithful to his beliefs despite persecution & trials.

Great Story, Okay Film submitted by Meginator on June 28, 2017, 6:52am For a movie about a conscientious objector, Hacksaw Ridge is awfully gory. I understand that some degree of violence can demonstrate the absolute horror of combat, but this movie could easily lose half an hour (or more) of gratuitous violence and emerge with its message (and impact) intact. This is the main problem with Hacksaw Ridge as a film: I feel like a lot of it could be cut without diluting its message or doing its remarkable main character a disservice.

Everything else is in place: the acting is fantastic, the cinematography is interesting, and the plot is intense when it is allowed to develop. One particular, climactic montage toward the end is extremely powerful and a hint at how good this film could be. Alas, the movie gets bogged down by extra weight time and again. Hacksaw Ridge is worth watching if you can stomach the violence, but it falls short of its potential.

great movie submitted by Sierra B on July 3, 2017, 9:17pm This movie is great for those that like war movies, but want something a little bit different. The action makes you feel like your almost there, but the story is also well done.

Amazing Movie submitted by alexmichaelp on June 25, 2019, 2:36pm This movie is truly a great story revolving one's religious convictions with love for others. You need to see this!

True Story submitted by caburr47 on July 1, 2020, 8:16pm Andrew Garfield and the rest of the cast were outstanding. The fact that this story is based on a real person who went into battle with only his weapons of wits.
