COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fantastic Filmmaking submitted by Meginator on August 2, 2017, 9:46pm Even today it's easy to see why Citizen Kane is revered as a classic film. The interplay of light and darkness, the use of mirrors and windows and doors to frame faces and convey separation, and the innovative use of higher and lower camera angles all combine to create a masterpiece, and that's just the cinematography. The story is both of its era and timeless, the characters are portrayed to perfection, and the central question ("What is 'Rosebud'"?) is both resolved and open-ended by the film's end. This is a cinematic masterpiece that has aged gracefully and its influence and importance cannot be overstated.

Citizen Kane on DVD submitted by a2sue on July 21, 2019, 1:36pm I've never understood why the DVD of Citizen Kane is so well-regarded. I thought it was confusing and kind of boring, actually. Not my cup of tea!

I cannot believe that this best movie EVER made has just a couple reviews, and Spielberg's fairy tale "Jaws" has 20! submitted by Tassos on September 28, 2019, 6:35pm "Citizen Kane" is a masterpiece one can see again and again, yesterday, today, and in 2525 it will still be just as AMAZINGLY GOOD.

It is also very POETIC, you cannot find scenes like the one with the toy sled being burned and the smoke coming out of the chimney. Symbolic and heart-breaking unless you are brain dead.
