COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Excellent movie submitted by jszchen on August 25, 2011, 9:58pm This is one of our all time favorite movies. It gets better every time I watch it. I have yet to figure out how many days he relives

A Favorite Again and Again and Again submitted by Jan Wolter on July 15, 2013, 4:39pm I've watched this movie so often it's almost like being in it. I don't usually like Bill Murray much, but his generally slightly annoying manner is perfect in this film, where he's stuck reliving the same day over and over and over again. (In answer to another reviewer's question - the number of days for which he's stuck isn't clear in the film, but the moviemakers say that their idea was that he was stuck reliving the same day for the equivalent of thousands of years.) His emotional journey through these days which are endlessly the same except for the impact of his own actions makes an enchanting story, queerly emphasizing both the importance of his actions - since days differ only because of his actions - and their futility - because each days actions are erased. So it's a deep film, and at the same time, a wildly funny film.

Classic submitted by elliot4321 on July 2, 2015, 1:41pm This should go up with The Wizard of Oz and It's a wonderful life, for sure!

Nice one submitted by punsingh on August 20, 2015, 2:57pm This is a nice romantic comedy movie. It deals with the concept of getting stuck for an eternity. What would you do if you had all that time? I was a bit disappointed with the ending. Far too romantically convenient for my taste, and no explanation of why what happened, happened.

Hilarious! submitted by kelleyc on August 18, 2016, 7:25am Bill Murray at his best.

One of the best films ever. submitted by lisa on August 21, 2018, 10:51pm What a conceit. And so philosophical! If only it didn't have that snotty actress in it.

Groundhog Day submitted by ashflowtuff on August 27, 2018, 11:25am One of my favorite comedies. It never gets old, I can watch it over and over and over . . . and over and over. . .

Classic! submitted by RebeccaWittekindt on June 15, 2019, 9:24pm Loved this movie. This is a must see. A great story with a lesson about what being selfless and selfish can do to a day.

Bill Murray at His Best submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2021, 5:42pm This romantic comedy is probably the best-known time-loop story, and Bill Murray successfully carries off the combination of pathos and genuine growth that makes the film work. The way he uses knowledge from previous loops to seduce women comes off as a bit creepy at times, but he ultimately comes to use his powers for good and the eventual true love relationship does feel like it is built from a place of genuine respect and understanding. Though slightly dated in its tone and substance, the film holds up well due to Murray’s excellent comedic timing and the chemistry between him and Andie MacDowell.
