COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Piano Jazz at Its Finest submitted by Meginator on July 24, 2018, 11:06am Dave Brubeck has such a smooth playing style that it's almost difficult to notice appreciate the innovation in so many of his songs, like the unconventional time signatures in "Blue Rono a la Turk" and "Take Five". These legendary tracks reveal new nuances with each listen and the whole album is a genre-defining classic, a great place to start with piano-based jazz.

One of my first albums purchased submitted by ccrose on August 5, 2019, 10:25am The realm of jazz was unexplored for me but I jumped into it because of the quartet’s tight playing and the quirky time signatures. I still listen to this album and the one that followed it. Paul Desmond played alto sax with a touch that sounded like Brubeck’s touch on piano. Strange Meadowlark is the most evocative melody; wonder what were circumstances when Brubeck heard this bird? These pieces have never felt cliche to me. They have held up all these years.
