COMMUNITY REVIEWS

very good submitted by airgood on August 5, 2014, 1:20pm Great movie with a fantastic cast and a gripping plot.

Great story submitted by LVDS on July 16, 2019, 11:04am Well told story set in the "glory" days of the Irish mafia in the 30's.
Lot's of violence, of course there are guns, but not overly gory.
Great acting by Tom Hanks and the child who plays his son.

average submitted by yufamily on August 24, 2019, 2:18pm Not a fan of the Mafia

very good, but Tom Hanks is miscast. Harrison Ford or Russel Crowe or Liam Neeson would be FAR, FAR better choices. submitted by Tassos on November 15, 2021, 2:20pm I have seen this before, and now I see it again right now.

It's a good movie, Paul Newman is great as always, even little Dan Craig as his worthless son fits his role well.

HOWEVER, Tom Hanks is miscast. He sure checks the "decent" and "competent" boxes for his role, but he just does not have the "killer instinct" needed for him to avenge the murders of his family.

Harrison Ford or Russel Crowe or Liam Neeson would be FAR, FAR better choices.

PS Hey, "yufamily", seriously? DO you think anybody else is a "fan of the Mafia"? ANd why did you bother watching this movie anyway?

A bit flat submitted by mandevil on November 30, 2021, 11:47pm Performances were good but lacks a spark

Until he took on Col. Parker... submitted by Steve Amick on August 28, 2022, 10:07pm ... Hanks' best role. Take on more baddies, please.
