Helpful info for anyone submitted by mickplu on June 15, 2018, 2:59pm I will probably buy this book as I'm sure I'd like to refer back to pieces of advice. Alda has founded a center for the study of communication and offers the results of studies, classes he has formed and tips from acting and every day life. For example, instead of the old "yes, but..." he encourages "yes, and" where the communicator adds another idea while not rejecting or discouraging further insight. I took the online test of reading emotions through the eyes and it was more difficult than I had imagined. According to Alda, scores in emotional intelligence can improve with practice such as naming each emotion that you encounter in another speaker.

This is a helpful book. I just wish that I were better at remembering to use his tips. The one that I try, but forget, to do is: always try to figure out what the person that you are interacting with is feeling.
It did get redundant at times but was worth it
