Pretty Standard, But Fun submitted by Meginator on August 23, 2020, 6:50pm This is fairly standard holiday film fare buoyed by uncommonly good acting and a few moments of excellent banter. The overall plot is completely predictable and has a fair number of holes, the romantic leads are flimsy caricatures who occasionally feel like real people, the (inevitable) love story is rushed and feels inauthentic, and the overall experience is exactly what I wanted when I saw the title and the cover photo. Despite its faults, which are mostly issues that come with the territory anyway, this film has a certain appeal to it, twisting the usual formula in just the right ways to create something that is fun and enjoyable; and with holiday-themed romances, that’s all you really need.
