Oscar Wilde. What more do you really need to know? submitted by messa on November 14, 2010, 1:40am This is a favorite of mine for many reasons. The casting is perfect. Sir. Michael Redgrave, of the famous Redgrave acting family, is a wonderful lead as a single man in the late 1800's who keeps a house in the town and a house in the country (I know. Must be nice, huh?). Without giving away too much, the story revolves mainly around people's morals and is laugh out loud funny in many parts. My favorite line is, when informed that Mr. Worthing has lost both of his parents, is told by the stuffy Lady Bracknell: "To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness."

A wonderfully funny movie you'll want to watch again and again.

Wilde at his best submitted by majean on June 15, 2019, 9:48am Many popular quotes that we attribute to Wilde are from this play. It was delightful to see it performed (even in film) after having only read the script. Very funny, and the costumes are gorgeous.
