Excellent submitted by tszynwelski on August 30, 2013, 10:00am This cast is perfect.

Great bore submitted by beeniepie on June 21, 2014, 12:46pm Wow, I didn't think it was possible to recruit such an ensemble cast and director and create such a boring, emotionless film. Saturating colors and close ups alone do not make a great film. Luhrmann attempted to borrow some of the greatness from Moulin Rouge and failed brilliantly. The chemistry between DiCaprio and Mulligan was forced. The friendship between DiCaprio and Maguire was believable, but not enough to send anyone to the looney bin. The movie was such a disappointment to such a great novel.

Do you like Fusion? submitted by dvolpe on August 25, 2014, 4:47pm Gatsby takes Fitzgerald's classic novel and infuses it with a modern flair. I would recommend this film to someone who enjoys a new spin on an old favorite, but if you like your classics unaltered this is probably not the movie for you.

Interesting submitted by zmclaugh on July 30, 2018, 4:26pm This is an interesting adaptation of the novel.

Amazingly done submitted by avrogers1 on June 16, 2019, 7:46pm This was so well done! The cast was amazing, and the cinematography was stunning, and the costumes were suburb. I didn't think it was possible to make a version of Gatsby that I wouldn't mind to watch over and over again, but somehow they have done it! Its a fantastic movie! Plus, can we talk about the soundtrack... Oh my goodness, its amazing!

great movie submitted by rtracy on July 19, 2023, 10:57pm A beautiful and interesting interpretation of the novel. Incredible visuals and I love the soundtrack

Not my favorite submitted by brooksza on August 24, 2023, 11:51am I recently re-read the book and wanted to finally check out the movie. I'm usually a fan of Baz' movies (even flawed ones like Elvis) but this didn't really work for me. I can see why he'd take the swings he did and I kept wanting to like it more, but it just felt too much like a remix of Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge. I think things settled down a bit in the first half, but I was already too put off. I don't even mind the modern music choices, it just felt too much like a cheap attempt at his other movies that worked so much better.

I always confuse Joel Edgerton and Jason Clarke, so it was odd to have them both in this movie (and I also see they were together in Zero Dark Thirty). They should play brothers in something.
