Four frustrated college girlfriends plot to fund their best spring break ever by burglarizing a fast-food shack. But that₂s only the beginning: during a night of partying, the girls get arrested. Hung over and clad only in bikinis, the girls appear before a judge and get bailed out unexpectedly by Alien, an infamous local dealer who takes them on the wildest spring-break trip in history.

A dreamy collison of youth and Hedonism submitted by irenzero on July 9, 2013, 10:34am Spring Breakers is one the most controversial films of 2013, with it's seeming endorsement of violence and Hedonism. The story is about four girls who want to go on spring break and get away from the dreary oppressive lives they have at school. They girls are not well off and have to turn to crime to fund their trip, and as their spring break takes form they engage in more and more extreme forms of pleasure.... until they get arrested, things go down hill from there. It's a noir film of a kind, one that uses the doomed anti hero in a way we might not have seen before. I liked the dream like quality of the film and the solid performances from the cast. Love it or hate it, it's worth a look.

My feelings about Spring Breakers are complicated by James Franco's horrible, horrible performance. It is like he watched one Riff Raff video on youtube and then did a sub-highschool drama class rehash of it. The worst actor of a generation, even if he hadn't been canceled. If Harmony had just shown "My Fork My Fork" to McConaughey once, he would have killed it. I also would have liked Avicii to be in this movie.
