Kate and her actor brother live in 21st century New York. Her ex-boyfriend, Stuart, has found a spot near the Brooklyn Bridge where there is a gap in time-- one can return to the 19th century. Stuart goes back to the 1870s and takes pictures, then is followed back to New York by Leopold. Leopold gets help with fitting into the 21st century from Kate's brother Charlie, and meets Kate herself. Kate is climbing the corporate ladder in advertising, but her growing feelings for Leopold cause her to reevaluate her priorities in life.
DVD, Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound, widescreen.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A Time Travel Rom-Com submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2020, 9:52pm This is essentially a simple (yet high-concept) romantic comedy that succeeds on the strength of the undeniable chemistry of its two main characters. I enjoyed the use of time travel to create a fish-out-of-water scenario, and Hugh Jackman is impossibly charming in his role as a 19th-century gentleman. The supporting cast has surprising depth, although the film completely abandons one of its most important characters instead of effectively working him in to the story before everything hinges on him. I really liked the movie until the final beat which, while entirely appropriate and expected for the genre, made me immediately question the feasibility of the happily ever after, which isn’t something you typically want out of this type of movie. Still, this is one of the better and more natural rom-coms from their peak era.
