Fantastic submitted by klickitat on August 6, 2013, 9:32pm Yes, the subject matter is sad but this movie is definitely worth watching. I walked out of the theater inspired. As the wife character says as she flips through an old photo album, "Life is beautiful." Make sure to pay attention to the set design -- you'll learn so much about the characters' lives beyond the movie's plot.

Excellent Movie. submitted by Tassos on December 17, 2021, 8:48pm Watching it on dvd at home, while I am also working on my desktop and laptop, which I should not do because I have missed some dialogues, the movie being in French. The lead actor, now 91, was 82 when he made the movie (2012). He has made truly great films in the 60s and 70s. I did not know the actress playing his sick wife. The old couple lives in a great big luxurious apartment in Paris, which means they are not middle class but rather affluent citizens. The movie shows several end of life health problems, home care problems, live or die decisions, which we have seen in older relatives and will see in ourselves when we reach their ages or older, and there is nothing we can do to avoid dealing with them. ANd many times there are no good options.
