Later the night, Mildred is found murdered and Steele who has a history of violent behavior becomes the prime suspect. A neighbor who is attracted to him lies to the police providing them with an alibi. Is he innocent or not?

I want to live in those apartments. submitted by lisa on July 26, 2018, 4:44pm That's just how it is. Maybe all guys were jerks back then? Wait, maybe they still are?

Better than average noir submitted by Will O on August 25, 2020, 8:00pm A better than average noir with incredible performances from Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Graham.
The murder mystery portion was a little weak and the first half was much better than the second especially with the characters and dialogue being so crackling in the beginning but for me the second half had a much too convenient/abrupt resolution to the murderers identity.
Overall it was still very good and the acting makes up for the slightly weaker backend of the movie.
A must watch for any noir fan.
