COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Classic comedy message picture submitted by irenzero on June 4, 2008, 4:59pm I found out about this charming film while watching a documentary on Martin Scorsese a while back. It’s the story of a film director who wants to make a serious film, reflecting the trials and tribulations of the common man….. only he’s a privileged film maker and knows nothing about the hardships of life… he sets out experience those hardships, and what ensues is a funny, touching, and ultimately highly enjoyable film that is still very watch able more than 60 years later. Veronica Lake and Joel McCrea and both charming and likable, and there were several instances in this film that have been swiped by great modern film makers like Woody Allen and the Cone Brothers.

maybe better as a Criterion DVD? submitted by lisa on June 27, 2019, 5:35pm Either way, it's a good movie. Funny, and gave us O Brother Where Art Thou?
