The Coen Brothers’ first film submitted by ccrose on July 20, 2019, 2:17pm This was made a long time ago now so I love to see every trait or instinct of the young brothers that has carried forward. It’s set in a small Texas town. Filmed in black and white, starring Frances McDormand, you can see her good acting that only got better over the years. One of the creepiest moments I can’t forget: a long dark road, open land on either side, a guy tries to dump a body. Drags a shovel out in field and digs a big hole. He goes back to drag the body out and it’s not dead but crawling down that road, looking like a squashed bug. You’ll see those long dark empty roads in a bunch of future Coen films. Creepy. But talented.
