COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Ellington submitted by tbbrown76 on July 12, 2018, 7:51pm The music is good, but the recording quality is poor. It hurts the overall enjoyment of the CD.

Excellent Performances; Needs a Remaster submitted by Meginator on July 15, 2020, 9:32pm This live recording features later-day big-band music peppered with excellent solos, though the spoken-word bits can be difficult to parse through the static. That same recording quality does lend the album an air of authenticity as the concert progresses, the sets progressing naturally through versions of classic standards and original compositions. The drum solo on “Skin Deep” stands out, but each track features excellent performances, and it’s easy to tell why this is regarded as a classic and Duke Ellington as a master of his craft.
