Highly Recommended! submitted by Beth Manuel on June 17, 2016, 12:15pm This was an amazing film, with home-movie footage, letters from Janis to her family read by Cat Power and interviews with Janis' siblings. It was interesting to hear her actual voice as well as what she shared with her family through her letters. What struck me the most is how close she was with her family, even though they didn't understand her passion for music or even how huge she was becoming in the music world. Despite the love her family provided, she had a difficult time loving herself because of crappy things classmates and other bullies did to her. If you have any interest in 60's rock and roll or Janis Joplin, you definitely need to see this film!
