Title from disc surface.
Based on the book "In the heart of the sea: the tragedy of the Whaleship Essex" by Nathaniel Philbrick.
Originally released as a motion picture in 2015.
Widescreen (1.78:1).
Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Tom Holland, Jordi Molla, Charlotte Riley, Joseph Mawle, Michelle Fairley.
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. This story reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.
DVD, NTSC region 1, anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1) presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround.
Contents: Revenge of the whale.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Good submitted by ECReader on June 20, 2016, 12:12pm This was a fairly good movie. There were parts f it that were extremely exciting and I thought the plot line was wonderful. I can't say I was on the edge of my seat the whole time but it was still fun to watch.

good submitted by kbahleda on July 23, 2018, 10:17am Chris Hemsworth was worth the watch! lol. Good movie

A good film submitted by Cihendricks on August 30, 2018, 7:21pm It's not as good as the book (which I *highly* recommend) but the movie is really well put together. The inclusion of Melville is a bit odd given Philbrick's opinion of him, but the narrative device works beautifully. Overall, it's definitely worth a watch.

excellent film submitted by John Staunton on August 30, 2018, 9:54pm nice companion to Moby Dick

Pretty good submitted by mandevil on September 7, 2020, 1:52pm Enjoyable
