Must Read submitted by dahyatt on July 16, 2018, 9:30pm Even if you've seen the movie, you should read this book. Story line is different than what you get in the movie.

Stephen King story without horror submitted by ccrose on August 31, 2019, 9:27am Interesting that King wrote this story. Maybe he’s written other non horror novels. Great characters. The device that works well here is the contrast between main character Andy Dufeesne and other prisoners. He knows mistreatment and doesn’t lose his will to turn against it. I love the moment he darts into the wardens offexe, locks the door and plays Madame Butterfly over the loudspeaker. The beauty stops all those guys in their tracks. Tim Robbins gets lots of parts but this one, a lead instead of supporting, ramped up the quality of the story.
