Orchestral Holiday Cheer submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2020, 1:20pm These instrumental arrangements of holiday classics offer a nice contrast to their vocal counterparts, the orchestration creating varied musical textures and emphasizing different aspects of these familiar songs. Anderson utilizes an array of percussive instruments, most notably to comedic and dramatic effect on the iconic “Sleigh Ride” and the overall feeling is light and accessible. Even familiar carols such as “Joy to the World” crackle with new energy in Anderson’s arrangements. This album offers a dose of instrumental holiday cheer with a mix of familiar tunes and compositions that have since fallen (often unfairly so) by the wayside; I highly recommend it.
