In the 23rd century, humans forsake the ravaged outer environment by living in a vast, bubbled metropolis. There, computerized servo-mechanisms provide all needs and everyone can pursue endless hedonism. Endless, that is, until Lastday. That's when anyone who's 30 must submit to Carrousel, a soaring, spinning trip to eternity and supposed rebirth. Logan 5, a Sandman authorized to terminate Runners fleeing Carrousel, decides to become a Runner himself once he finds out the horrible truth about Lastday.

Futuristic!! submitted by pkooger on September 22, 2010, 10:51am I enjoyed this movie, but not really because it was a good movie. I enjoyed it because the special effects, music, and often acting (I'm looking at you, Farrah) were hilarious. My favorite part was whenever the characters would take the monorail around the city, which was obviously a scale model, and the tinkly, jittery space music would play. I also liked Logan and Jessica's epic struggle with the mighty Box, which essentially boiled down to them wrestling with a man in an unwieldy, square, plastic robot suit. Oh, and I also laughed out loud when two fighting actors accidentally knocked a real, live cat off of a table and scared it half to death. I don't think it was in the script, but it was very funny.

Science Fiction Double Feature submitted by Michael Flynn on January 20, 2013, 11:20am Logan's Run" (1976) and "In Time" (2012) are terrific together.
Both films explore dystopian systems designed to address the social burden of old age. A totalitarian central computer controls a socialist society through an elite police force in "Logan's Run"; while "In Time" explores a capitalist oligarchy in which anyone can stay young indefinetly, if they are wealthy enough. However, not everyone can be immortal- where would you put them all?

The costumes and sets of Logan's Run are like Buck Rodgers reimagined as soft porn; while "In Time" finds some of its gritty sexiness in hyper-hybrid reimaginings of classic cars from the 1960's.

Did Not Like the Ending submitted by KaileyH20 on July 30, 2014, 5:15pm I went in to this knowing that there would be huge differences from the book, which I read prior to watching the movie. That being said, I was in no way prepared for this movie. The special effects were entertaining, Farrah Fawcett was hilarious, and the music was kind of grating. However, the ending completely ruined any enjoyment of this film I had--for one, it seemed to drag on way longer than was entertaining and entered into tedious. It also felt like they got halfway through and decided to chuck the book out the window; I incorrectly thought we would kind of stick to that plot just a tiny bit.

Because I am one of those people (in this instance, at least) who argue the book is better than the movie, I wasn't a fan of this adaption. It is an awesome piece of 70s movie making though, even if I didn't enjoy their treatment of the novel.
