Elle, who has just gotten through breaking up with her girlfriend when Elle's granddaughter Sage unexpectedly shows up needing $600 bucks before sundown. Temporarily broke, Grandma Elle and Sage spend the day trying to get their hands on the cash as their unannounced visits to old friends and flames end up rattling skeletons and digging up secrets.

another dysfunctional "family" submitted by LVDS on May 12, 2016, 7:56am Since AADL had none, I read some reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, which were mostly favorable for this movie. But I do not call Lily Tomlin's character 'Grandma' -her vulgarity, mean, rude, cursing at everyone 'funny'. I will give some "spoiler alerts'...but hopefully I'll save your time from watching this.

One one of the main under-stories in this is Grandma grieving over the death of her long term lesbian relationship, that could have been done tenderly. She is bitter with everyone. The only one she seems to care for in the movie is her grand-daughter...that is if 'helping' her to get the money for an abortion,is being supportive. That's NOT the role model I'd like for a 'grandma'. Life is too short to not seek some mercy & restoration with emotions & relationships gone bad.There were a couple opportunities for that, but they were lost. The movie leaves you sad, empty & cramping like the girl :-(

I guess you can tell, I like "happy endings". I know life doesn't always give us that. Yet I'm hopeful and have lived long enough....that we have choices in life to influence for good...seeking an attitude of love,gratitude & forgiveness.
