deep and unsettling submitted by camelsamba on July 31, 2017, 1:10pm This was hard to listen to for a couple of reasons. It's hard to figure out what is going on initially, even knowing it's about mental illness. If i'd been reading, I would have flipped back and forth a lot at the beginning. Then again, if I'd been reading instead of listening, I might have given up completely. And the subject matter was difficult, unsettling, deep.

There is a section which talks about how hallucinations aren't really what the common understanding of them is. I wish I had bookmarked it (in overdrive) so I could track it down again. Had I been reading a print edition, I would have put a sticky flag on those pages...

Reading though other reviews I see mention of illustrations and an author's note. I'm disappointed that they didn't record the author's note for the BOCD, and I need to flip through a copy on the library shelf to see the illustrations.
