Haunting... submitted by irenzero on July 31, 2011, 2:40pm Beautiful and hauntingly shot, Vanishing On 7Th Street the latest from director Brad Anderson (Next Stop Wonderland, Session 9) deals with a small group of survivors who have witnessed people simply vanish around them, the encroachment of shadows and darkness on the face of the earth and the slow failure of electronic lights to keep the darkness at bay. The plot is slow, and really doesn't go much beyond the quest for survival of those remaining. They hole up in a bar with a generator and keep the lights on, while trying to keep their heads straight… it's a creepy slow burn of a film that I am sure some will find a lot to like, and I am sure that those who loved Session 9 will be somewhat disappointed. To me it's an interesting film that isn't altogether successful… oh and parts of it were filmed down the road in Detroit.
