Bryson has become a curmudgeon submitted by 21621031390949 on July 1, 2017, 10:21pm I have liked a couple of Bill Bryson's books in the past. I liked "In a Sunburned Country" so much I took a trip to Australia and followed some of Bryson's itinerary.

But I have also not liked the tone of some of his books - too snarky or negative for me. He's clever and often amuses me, but in "The Road to Little Dribbling" his negatives outweigh the positives and he comes off as a real curmudgeon.

The recorded version of this book has an interesting reader (not Bryson this time), but his variation in volume makes it a difficult book to listen to in the car. For these reasons - and because I have a couple of other good BOCD's waiting for me - I've stopped this one after Disk 4. Maybe I'll return and finish it someday. Or maybe I'll move on to other lands.....
