Brutal And Beautiful submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on July 11, 2015, 1:06am Jennifer Lawrence gives a steely, seething performance in this stripped down, brutally bare film. Her rural teenager low on dialogue and highly self-contained could be seen as an audition for her role as Katniss in The Hunger Games. But Winter's Bone is worth watching for itself. It is not exactly a film to enjoy, but one to appreciate and be riveted by.
