Read by Christopher Guetig.
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by a man he's never met-a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret-- Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants, and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years. When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision. Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die ...-- (Source of description not identified)

Another great "gods" series! submitted by Xris on August 27, 2018, 11:37pm They explore Norse mythology in this series. Magnus gets to see what Valhalla is like and help save the world from Ragnarok.

Classic Riordan Book submitted by choichr on June 28, 2019, 9:28pm If you enjoyed the Percy Jackson series, you will most likely enjoy this book/series. It is written in a very similar, comical, down-to-earth tone. I thought it was cool how Riordan explores Norse mythology this time.

nice addition to the series! submitted by wookeny on July 9, 2019, 9:19pm This book is pretty scary, because there is an animal. Magnus has to get a sword, that was lots for thousands of years. He I=makes a fatal decision, that could destroy the world.

Great book! submitted by KatieD on August 6, 2021, 3:49pm I liked Percy Jackson and the Olympians and also the Heroes of Olympus. This takes place in the same world, but is entirely based on Norse mythology. I am so excited that Riordan decided to take on Norse mythology. It's so much fun! Especially because I have studied Norse mythology and understood a lot of the references to old myths.

The Sword of Summer submitted by SBNB on June 22, 2022, 10:52pm I first read this a few years ago, and as an adult, I found it somewhat entertaining but rather annoying and weird. However, just like the Percy Jackson series, the book grew on me in the years after I first read it, and I am now planning to read the rest of the series.

EPIC BOOK submitted by apncksr on August 1, 2022, 10:12am very interesting book. I personally love all the snarky and sarcastic comments
