Middling, Entertaining Rom-com submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 10:47am This is a perfectly adequate romantic action comedy that is about what you would expect from Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. With tons of natural charm, Kutcher makes for a wonderful romcom lead, but Heigl is treated horribly by the writers in her opening scenes; she has almost no defining character traits of her own, although the fault seems to lie primarily with the script and not with the actress. Despite some nice action scenes and set pieces, and growing chemistry between the two leads, the plot is too convoluted for this type of film, with an unsatisfying resolution that ultimately renders most of the story completely and utterly pointless. Nonetheless, you’re not watching something like this for the intricate plotlines and suspense in the first place, and it makes for a decent little comedy shoot-em-up in the end as long as you don’t take it too seriously. It’s fine for what it is.
