A love story in reverse: 'How I met your mother' is a comedy about Ted and how he fell in love. When Ted's best friends Marshall and Lily decide to tie the knot, it sparks the search for his own Miss Right. Helping him in his quest is his bar-hopping "wing-man" Barney, a confirmed bachelor with plenty of wild scemes for picking up women. Ted's sights are set on the charming and independent Robin, but destiny may have something different in mind. Told through a series of flashbacks, Ted recalls his single days, the highs and lows of dating and the search for true love.

Where It All Began submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2021, 5:52pm This series definitely has some cringeworthy moments in it, largely related to its treatment of female characters, but, personally, my love for the characters and for the core group’s strong bonds generally outweighs my problems with the show. This season introduces Ted Mosby and his four best friends, following the hapless (and often annoying) architect in his quest to find a wife. Along the way, he and the group have plenty of adventures and learning moments, with the show’s slapstick hijinks and (usually intentionally) corny one-liners existing in balance with more complex emotional storylines. The show sets its tone early, and though it shifts slightly throughout the course of its lengthy run, its first season offers a good taste of what’s to come (as well as my personal favorite candidate for the role of The Mother).
