"Rejoining The Hour a year on in 1957, the team are still striving to broadcast the stories they believe in, grappling with the disturbing threat of the Cold War and a country in the grip of unsettling, rapid change. Bel is still single and determined not to get involved with another married man, but finds herself taking on her adversary Bill Kendall, an ITV producer whose magnetic charm she can't help but find irresistible. Hector has risen to the status of a national celebrity and, drawn into the seductive glamour of Soho nightclub, El Paradis, falls under the spell of the beautiful and seductive KiKi. No longer happy at The Hour under Randall's new regime, he is tempted by offers from ITV, but when a night at the club goes badly wrong, scandal threatens and Hector must try and stop a news story that could destroy his marriage and his career. Investigative reporter Freddie makes an unexpected return to uncover and tackle police corruption within the world of Soho crime and vice"--Container.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Leaves you wanting more submitted by caburr47 on July 27, 2019, 7:45pm I really wish Abi Morgan would write another series. She weaves history and character together and ending on a cliff hanger was not nice.

a great continuation, and worth the cliff-hanger submitted by nemiller on July 31, 2023, 10:44pm The second season of The Hour has all the same things we loved about the first - that mix of social history and interpersonal intrigue. Some of the secondary characters from the first season get some satisfying depth, while the core cast goes through some interesting, yet believable, changes. I especially like how the women at the heart of the news stories become fully fleshed out characters, rather simply than a means to a good story like in season 1.

The Hour was, sadly, not renewed for a 3rd season, so there are some questions that go unanswered at the end of season 2. It's still very much worth watching. And if the cliff-hanger really bothers you, you can always go online after watching the last episode, and read what season 3 would have looked like, according to the writer.
