Bill Bryson, instead of retiring to enjoy his loving and beautiful wife and large and happy family, challenges himself to hike the Appalachian Trail: 2,200 miles of America's most unspoiled, spectacular, and rugged countryside from Georgia to Maine. The peace and tranquility he hopes to find, though, is anything but, when the only person he can find willing to join him on the trek is his long-lost former friend Katz, a down-on-his-luck serial philanderer.

Pretty Good submitted by Meginator on August 14, 2017, 3:27pm The most important thing to know going into this film, if you've read the book, is that it doesn't really capture the spirit and tone of the book; this isn't a bad thing, necessarily, but I found the book to be much funnier as the film introduced some more saccharine elements. However, this is an odd duck of a film that is surprisingly entertaining and features excellent performances and the types of characters you don't often see in major cinematic productions. A Walk in the Woods is a pretty good way to entertain yourself for a couple of hours and more than justifies the time you put into it.
