The Creeping Dark submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2021, 2:48pm This album has a dark industrial vibe to it, with its mostly electronic instrumentation balanced nicely with moments of earthly, grounded marimba. Each of the album’s four sections has a distinct narrative arc, employing unique thematic elements and exploring and expanding them across several tracks; everything feels deliberate, with a hint of experimentation to it that never gets in the way of a pleasant listening experience. You don’t always need lyrics to tell a story, and Nine Inch Nails do plenty of storytelling without the benefit of words and in a relatively restrained range of timbres. The music has a consistent, creeping dark energy to it even in its slower moments, and it’s inventive and engaging all at once, providing a lot to dig into on repeated listens.

instrumental NIN submitted by tisaallen on July 14, 2022, 3:52pm After the release of Year Zero, Nine Inch Nails was released from their record label contract with Interscope and thus able to release whatever they wanted and they came out with this collection of sparse instrumentals organized in 4 sets of 9 tracks each. I don't miss Reznor's vocals very much.
