Modernization of Weaponry/war in late 19th century Japan submitted by Kimberlyrol on June 29, 2017, 7:32pm This film is historical fiction. Based on the perceived notion that the Japanese emperor required modernization of weaponry in the late 19th century, to successfully protect the land, the fictional American Captain was brought overseas to introduce "modern" weapons. The film paints a picture of life of a Samurai and the hardships they faced during this period of change.
