If you've never seen Tim Burton's stuff, know that this movie tends toward the surreal, the fairy-tale, etc. This is not realistic fiction and thank goodness for that. This movie weaves a wonderful modern fairy tale about "the other" - the boy on the hill that has scissors for hands, taken in by a kindly family. Although the basic story may be similar to many other fairy tales, the acting, the sets, the costuming - all magical. Well worth a look.
