Read by Robert Petkoff.
Atul Gawande tackles the hardest challenge of his profession: how medicine can not only improve life but also the process of its ending. Full of eye-opening research and riveting storytelling, Gawande asserts that medicine can comfort and enhance our experience even to the end, providing not only a good life but also a good end.

Excellent submitted by 21621031390949 on August 1, 2016, 7:45pm Excellent book by a surgeon about how Western medicine can/should improve it's care for those at the end of life. Of course, I'm a hospice social worker, so he was preaching to the choir with me, but I still learned things.
An honest view at the most inevitable thing in everyone's life - death submitted by gurdas on April 22, 2017, 3:45pm Dr. Gawande makes a compelling case for a hard re-look at how we over treat ourselves as death approaches. The wonders of western medicine have provided us with longer, healthier lives, but at the same time robbed us of the dignity of a peaceful end. The book is voiced in a soothing and suitably emoted manner. I think this is a must read (or hear!) for everyone.
