At the peak of her international career, Maria Enders is asked to perform in a revival of the play that made her famous twenty years ago. Back then she played the role of an alluring young girl but now she is being asked to step into the older role. With her assistant Maria prepares to play opposite a young Hollywood starlet and finds herself on the other side of the mirror, face to face with an unsettling reflection of herself.

Gorgeous, complex movie submitted by MH17 on August 6, 2018, 9:38pm An impressionistic, complex movie with strong performances by Kristen Stewart, Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz, The Clouds of Sils Maria dives deeply into art, theater, youth and age and female relationships. A bit slow-paced at times, almost ruminative, the movie is more about character than plot. Watch it for gorgeous views of Switzerland and a startling, subtle, thematically resonant moment in the last ten minutes that is gutsy and perfect. I loved this movie.
