Back to Basics submitted by Meginator on August 24, 2020, 7:00pm Lori McKenna has a very approachable, relatable songwriting style that focuses on storytelling through both her music and lyrics. Most of the songs have a somewhat mellow vibe with the instrumental pieces serving as a backdrop to the lyrical content, but album does include a couple of upbeat country anthems. McKenna often utilizes wry humor in the classic country style, but she can also make you cry- watch out for the final track. Altogether, I really enjoyed this album, which in its way is back-to-basics but which also draws on country music’s traditions to make something great.
