A visual history before your visit to Rome or Pompeii submitted by amy on July 25, 2019, 12:58pm Professor Steven Tuck says "um" a lot during these lectures, but he's likable and kinda goofy and will make your trip to Rome or Pompeii a LOT more meaningful if you're willing to take the time to watch this series. Visual symbols that point to the values and customs inherent in Roman government, religion, public and private life are everywhere evident in the Roman art, architecture, and the very ruins left standing in Rome, Pompeii, and other Roman cities. Tuck will show you how to find for them so you can fully appreciate what you're looking at on your trip and he'll debunk some myths (e.g. most gladiatorial combat was not a fight to the death) along the way.
