The story of Robert Ames and his work is compelling and thrilling. Kai Bird does an excellent job of bringing the story to life including Bob's family and CIA relationships. This is a man of honor and devotion who held many he met in the Arab world with respect and dignity. This lack of arrogance enables him to develop deep and lasting relationships with valueable and important contacts.
I have read several books about the CIA and there have been many mistakes and horrendous behavior. Robert Ames gives me hope.
The continuity and pacing of the book are ,perfect.
I found it inspiring. So much so, I plan to try and learn Arabic.
