COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Discusting submitted by btmiller on April 9, 2009, 1:05pm There are enough factual stories regarding concentration camps. I got the feeling as I was watching this that the author was trying to out do events that really happened. I found this movie to be discusting and in very bad taste.

Intriguing Perspective submitted by Cami K on July 7, 2011, 10:38am This movie was very moving. It is a view of the war and concentration camps as seen through the eyes of a Nazi Commandant's young son. The acting is supported by an excellent musical score that carries through to a powerful ending.

sad but true submitted by Sierra B on July 24, 2011, 10:28am This movie shows how a child can see the world. This movie is not for the faint of heart, but by watching it you learn how to be more excepting of people though they are different. Further more any author that can reinvent a story of the holocaust through the eyes of a child and still show the same horror is an author that i will always support.

Not Bad submitted by SBNB on June 21, 2012, 7:24pm It wasn't the best movie, but it wasn't the worst either. The story seemed to be unique and the ending was very surprising to me. But I wouldn't watch it again.

haunting submitted by klondry on October 25, 2018, 10:39am A poignant story about the holocaust as experienced by two young friends, one on the inside and one on the outside. A haunting and indelible ending.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas submitted by Varshini on July 26, 2019, 11:42pm Not great, but not terrible either. The movie was easy to watch, however, I feel like the ending was pretty idiotic. It was interesting to see how age can affect your perspective in this movie.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas submitted by crp on August 5, 2019, 11:13pm A searingly haunting story about an experience between two boys, one a prisoner and the other the son of a wealthy German officer, and what happens at the end is probably one of the most haunting endings I've ever seen in this genre of film making. It needed to be portrayed, as the horror intensifies when you realize what is happening. It also puts a more human face on this senseless tragedy, and draws you in without violating your trust in the moviemaker.

Young lives stolen submitted by Linda Rama on August 8, 2021, 8:57am The innocence of boys working toward a meaningful relationship is construed with adult ideologies of the time. A young family is taken from a happy community that they have known and transferred to great detrimental loses. Gruesome silences are overwhelming.
