Greatest Hits Parade submitted by Meginator on June 26, 2023, 10:01pm The title sort of speaks for itself on this one, although it’s worth noting that this compilation doesn’t follow chronological order. This is essentially a greatest hits album, and it includes most of Elton John’s best-known songs along with a couple of hits that have fallen by the wayside through the years. Notably, and somewhat to my surprise, this album’s version of “Candle in the Wind” is the original tribute to Marilyn Monroe, not the later version in honor of Princess Diana. Altogether, this is an excellent, though by no means comprehensive, place to begin with Elton John’s discography, and most of these songs will be familiar to listeners who are glancingly familiar with pop history in the UK and US.
