GREAT if you want to try one! submitted by nsvinicki on August 9, 2017, 1:48pm I have never needed to use a yarn swift until I bought my first skein of nice alpaca yarn, and this helped me wind it into a perfect ball! Do read the instructions first, and make sure you're gentle with it!

I loved that I could just check one out instead of having to purchase one, and it worked really well. Just be sure to read the directions!

It's so nice to have the option to check this great tool out from the library instead of investing time and space in owning one yourself. I've checked out this tool several times and it's always worked perfectly! Easy and convenient. I definitely recommend googling how to set it up and how to use it if you've never used one before.

GO SLOW submitted by KirstenHerold on May 20, 2019, 2:09pm I mean it, go slow. If you go slow, and use your thumb to hold the spindle/ eye away from the ball, you should be fine. IF it starts making a funny noise, STOP. Something is awry. But I agree that it is great the library has these because the two tools -- swift and winder -- cost about $100 to buy.

Great! submitted by runslikeagirl on June 29, 2023, 2:18pm The yarn swift is so helpful to have, particularly for yarn buried in my stash that I'm finally ready to use. I've found the edge of the kitchen counter as the best place to set up the swift and winder.
