Batman Snooze Fest submitted by Caser on January 4, 2009, 11:53am This movie should've been called The Joker. At least then I'd have known Hollywood was playing a trick on me. Gassed up as some kind of redemptive comic book masterpiece, The Dark Knight is nothing but hot air and smoke at all levels of film making.

Start with the dull, uninspired acting that came from Maggie Gyllenhaal, who couldn't fake chemistry on screen with anyone (let alone both Wayne and Dent) if she had a Bunsen burner and magnesium sulfate; Freeman, who phoned this performance in while he was probably working on a Discovery channel voice-over; Caine, who cut and pasted his delivery from his role in Jaws 4; Bale, whose gruff Batman voice schtick wouldn't scare Wall-E, and Leger, who gets a slight nod for attempting to make these flat, cliche, worthless lines even remotely watchable, but licking his chops and hunching through every scene? He must have been taking cues from late-career Bela Lugosi (you know, the Ed Wood variety).

The plot is barely serviceable, even for an action flick, where most scenes leave you wondering if director Nolan bothered hiring an editor for this waste of two and a half hours. A few lowlights of the film: Dent's transformation is thematic drivel and narrative distraction, as is the overwrought wiretapping analogy, and the conclusion of the Joker arc is unresolved snuff, only included to sell a third installation of these over-marketed snooze-fests. What a joke.

Simply Phenomenal submitted by jniehof on January 11, 2009, 2:15am Quite easily one of the best movies I've ever seen. When the credits rolled the first time I saw this in the theatre I sat there for minutes on end trying to catch my breath. It may be long, but it's also beautiful, intense, engrossing, haunting, and an undeniable technical masterpiece. Heath Ledger's performance is extraordinary as the Joker, and hopefully will be recognized. If you only see one movie from 2008, this is it.

As Always Batman Comes Out On Top submitted by AMP35 on September 29, 2010, 10:26pm I'm gonna come out and say it right away, I'm a huge Batman fan, and this movie was the best Batman film ever made. The Dark Knight kicks Batman films up another notch. Nolan already did wonders with Batman Begins; making his Batman story have the feel that it actually could happen. Deviating away from the utter impossibility of a superhero is what makes Nolan's Batman great and the Dark Knight is no different.

However, what really makes this Batman movie stand head and shoulders above the others is the Batman/Joker rivalry. Nolan presents the rivalry like no other Batman film before it, truly embodying the "unstoppable force meeting an immovable object." Like watching two great chess masters go at it, the Joker at Batman always seem to be in a stalemate. When one gains an edge, the other always finds a way to even things up.

The ending was one of the greatest moments in movies that I've seen and leaves you ready for the sequel. Now, many reviews that I've read say that this movie is over-hyped and that fan boys are responsible for this. I say that many of those people are just 'haters' and that you don't have to be a Batman fan to enjoy this movie. This movie illustrates a great struggle between good and evil. It shows that the good guy doesn't always win but, evil won't win either as long as he's there to stand where he belongs: "Between you and the people of Gotham"

Amazing submitted by faiyafrower on June 23, 2011, 8:59pm I can't claim to be a batman fan, but after hearing about it so much, I just had to watch it. This was definitely a great movie; the character shifts and plot were simply genius.

intense submitted by krishnansuresh on June 24, 2011, 5:04pm intense movie. It makes you want to keep watching.

great!! submitted by Lindsie on July 8, 2011, 8:34am i really thought that this movie was great. there were a few parts that couldve been better personally but seriously the other parts made up for them! :)

AMAZING submitted by Pareenaz9 on July 10, 2011, 11:09am this batman movie was AMAZING... it is the best of all the batman movies!

batman submitted by nasuaada on July 26, 2011, 7:05am batman is one of the best superheroes ever

Better than the first submitted by williamc on July 12, 2012, 7:50pm TDK kept me on the edge of my seat the first time I watched it... and the second... and the third... the acting is excellent and Nolan builds the suspense up so well that, even in the "slow" parts of the movie, you can still feel the presence of The Joker and his insanity :)

Hans Zimmer also does a brilliant job composing the soundtrack.

good submitted by nomar347 on August 30, 2012, 12:23am it must be good

The Dark Knight submitted by pubudu on June 16, 2013, 2:15pm I admit that this was simply one of the best action-packed movie I have seen in quite a while. The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, put on a phenomenal performance as the main villain in the movie. The dark and serious tone, present in almost all adaptations of Batman, was perfectly executed as Batman faces some severe tragedies during the film.

Loved it submitted by crazypockets on July 13, 2013, 12:29pm I thought this was the best of all three of this Batman set. I love the Batman comics because of the focus on corruption and the peoples' need to take responsibility in cleaning up their own city. This one didn't disappoint. Heath Ledger deserved his Oscar 100% for his amazing, incredible performance as a complete sociopath. The best thing about the Joker is that of all the Batman villains, he's the one that stands out as having no real motivation, no real back story. This movie stayed true to that, and I loved how every time he went to explain his scars, it was a completely different story. The best scene, for me, was when the people were on the barges and the little social experiment the Joker does and his reaction to the results. Terrific comic hero storytelling.

Dark Knight submitted by SBNB on June 26, 2014, 7:17pm It's very good. This movie made me a fan of batman.

Amazing submitted by tawesomenessk on June 13, 2015, 11:32am this was the juiciest movie I've seen

Batman submitted by SolaireFQ on August 27, 2016, 1:39pm Great movie. I love this version of batman.

Amazing submitted by Meginator on August 2, 2017, 3:08pm The Dark Knight is a stunning film that far outshines its (already superlative) predecessor. The acting is superb, even as Christian Bale is outshined by Heath Ledger's pitch-perfect Joker, the story resonates with a modern audience, and the stakes are real; Christopher Nolan is unafraid to have Batman face tough decisions with permanent consequences, and the risk pays off big. This is far more than a comic book adaptation or a superhero film or even a standard action flick; it is a rich film that will appeal to audiences who have never read a Batman story, a film that pushes the boundaries further forward and raises the bar for all of its many genres. Superb.

It’s okay submitted by tbbrown76 on June 30, 2018, 7:07pm Today’s movies tend to overly rely on special effects and CGI. I love the characters, but I think we can do better. 3/5

Haunting submitted by lstorc on August 27, 2018, 12:20pm The ending scene was exceptionally haunting. The rest of the movie I felt depended too much on special effects and too little on characters and plots.

The dark knight submitted by avrogers1 on June 20, 2019, 7:36pm This is a pretty good movie. Great for Batman lovers.

Great submitted by SaraP on July 25, 2019, 12:10pm Quite easily, the best comic book movie ever. Heath Ledger is fantastic and the themes and issues are still very relevant today.

Best submitted by crp on August 15, 2019, 9:17pm One of the best of the series

okay submitted by hemanth on August 19, 2019, 6:06pm I thought this movie was amazing. It was fascinating to watch how much Bruce Wayne had to go through in order to save Gotham City from the masked terrorist known as Bane. Batman, now proclaimed as a fugitive, also has to get used to being hunted down by the police.

The greatest Knight submitted by desuka81 on July 27, 2021, 1:06pm This is absolutely a greatest Batman movie or the best superheroes movies ever made.

I wish all DC superhero movies were this good submitted by kaymbre on July 27, 2023, 5:42am As someone who typically isn't drawn to DC films, I was pleasantly surprised by Batman: The Dark Knight. Breaking away from the traditional DC superhero movie formula, this film captivated me with its fresh and innovative approach. Christopher Nolan's direction brought a level of depth and realism that made the characters more relatable and engaging. Christian Bale's portrayal of Batman was nuanced and human, showcasing the internal struggles of the hero. Moreover, Heath Ledger's exceptional performance as the Joker left me in awe, making him one of the most memorable villains in cinematic history. The movie's intense action sequences and thought-provoking storyline kept me hooked from start to finish. Batman: The Dark Knight is not just another superhero movie; it transcends the genre, making it a must-watch even for those not typically drawn to DC films.
