COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Epic narrative poem that's closely associated with the very identity of Argentina
submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on August 22, 2019, 11:37am
It contains two sections: In the first section, Martin Fierro is happy and free until he is recruited to fight against the Indians on the frontier, his days then become so miserable that he decides to run away. He finds his house torn down and then embarks on the life of crime, escapes from the police to live among the Indians. In the second section, Fierro has to flee again from the Indians because he's killed an Indian previously. In the end, he encounters the brother of the man he had killed. Read this for the brilliant narrative and for an ideological critique of how the gauchos were treated during the Argentine nation's founding.
